Having recently returned to the great state of Ohio, I saw this sign the other day and snapped a picture of it. Who knew it would be the inspiration for my next, surely long-awaited blog post? At the time, I'd say this sign adequately captured my feelings. After a summer of traveling around: Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota (anywhere in the midwest), support raising, SPO staff training, The School of the New Evangelization, I was about ready to pull a Dorothy, click my heels together and say, "there's no place like home. there's no place like home"... And I wouldn't have been thinking Kansas...Sorry, my Kansas friends... Maybe I'm thinking highly of this state right now because I've been away so long, but you know what they say: absence makes the heart grow fonder. Having been traveling around for the last three months, It's kind of nice to land somewhere. I think I can pretty much agree with this sign and honestly say that "There is no place like Ohio" . But I don't want you to get the wrong idea here. Let me assure you that it's not just the that I've been away for a while (or the fact that I was born here ;) that I think fondly of this state. Here are just a few of the unique things that make this state so endearing: First of all, things like this always happen to me here. Yes. That is a leaf in my water glass. What are the chances?! Really though... the landscape... I can forgive the trees. And the cuisine is superb. Seasons. We're not afraid of a little hard work. There are lots of ways to stay entertained . We're at the heart of it all...right where a heart should be! The people here are all a bunch of nuts... But we sure know how to have fun =) But really... the people... Here's to another year of serving with Saint Paul's Outreach in the buckeye state. We like it here =)
