So many times I've been asked this question. So many times I've tried to answer. When It comes down to it: I get to lead young people in a live of discipleship with Jesus. Now to do this requires a lot of work: knowing the Lord myself, building relationships, bringing up conversations about prayer and faith and "who do you want to BE"? and "will you say yes?". It requires giving opportunities for people to say, "yes", to step out in faith and in boldness. It requires teaching: how to pray, how to persevere, how to teach and how to love. Here's a little glimpse of what we "DO".... On CampusOval Outreach. Every week I take to the Oval to talk with students- mostly ones I don't know (yet). Conversations range from, "what has been your experience of faith?" to "What do you think leisure is?" to just hanging out! You just never know what you'll get =) ...But it's not just me! A post from one of our student leaders on the SPOhio Formation page... Bible StudiesThis semester I've been co-leading 2 bible studies with students and helping mentor students who are co-leading their own bible studies. In October we decided to have a Pumpkin Party to gather any and all of the women in our studies together to celebrate the season. As you can see: we had a LOT of fun =) Household LifeAnd all those who believed were together and had all things in common...Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread... they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. -Acts 2: 42-47 This year is my first year living in an SPO household, let alone leading one. God has been abundant in His blessings upon us this year! I see transformation in many of our students who are living in household.... Women convicted of living a communal way of life: praying together, having meals together, not shutting the door honoring one another with words, notes, service etc... Men stepping up to be leaders: leading dangerous men's groups, hosting tail-gates and dinners, serving their brothers and sisters. Meet the men and women of SPO Household.... ....and this is just the beginning! Team LifeOne of the many blessings about this job is that I get to work with an AWESOME group of men and women. Not only do we get to work together, we get to share life together... and that's pretty sweet =) 'Tis the season to be thankful!
The days and the weeks are filled with good things: people hearing the Good News, people choosing to live for God (and choosing it every day), good conversations, good memories. I am filled with so much HOPE when I hear students speak about their future and their dreams and when I see them choosing to live for Christ and others. I am indescribably thankful to be a part of this work and witness the lives of students every day! And on we go...
